When your custom tote project calls for a special color, we custom dye your canvas to match your unique Pantone® color. When we are dyeing custom canvas, we start the process with a small dyed swatch of the canvas as a test to confirm your color prior to dyeing all of the canvas for your bags. Once the color canvas swatch is approved, we will dye all of the canvas to match the approved color. Typical timing for the test swatch is two weeks. We often dye several swatches so that we can be sure and get a good match to your color.

All canvas that is not ‘natural’ in color is dyed. Even white canvas is bleached and dyed to be pure white, because the natural canvas is always off white.

The process of dyeing canvas softens the cotton fibers somewhat, so dyed canvas will always have a slightly softer feel than natural canvas.

Once your custom color canvas is dyed and cured we cut and finish your tote order according to your custom specifications. So adding a custom color does add a little time to the overall process, but it can make a big difference.

We often have standard colors available like black red, royal and navy. But anything specific will be made to order for you. Custom color tote bags will take approximately 60 days to produce, so you will want to add enough time for special color fabrics.
